
A serious Bengaluru food poisoning incident has been reported from a private company in north Bengaluru’s Devanahalli area, where 97 employees fell ill after consuming food at the office canteen. The affected individuals were later hospitalised after experiencing symptoms commonly associated with food poisoning.

According to health officials, the incident took place after employees consumed meals served at the office canteen. The workers reportedly ate idli and vada for breakfast, followed by rice and sambar for lunch on Tuesday.
Later that night, several employees began experiencing health issues such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea. By Wednesday morning, many of them required medical attention, leading to their admission in nearby private hospitals.
This Bengaluru food poisoning case has raised concerns about food safety standards in corporate canteens.
Hospitalisation and Medical Treatment
Dr Krishna Reddy, Bengaluru Rural District Health Officer, confirmed that a total of 97 employees were affected. He stated that all patients were admitted to two private hospitals in the region.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. Doctors treated the patients using intravenous (IV) fluids to stabilise their condition and prevent dehydration caused by vomiting and diarrhoea.
Most of the affected individuals are currently under observation, and their condition is said to be stable.
Food Samples Sent for Testing
In response to the Bengaluru food poisoning incident, health authorities have collected samples of the leftover food from the canteen. These samples have been sent to laboratories for detailed testing to determine the exact cause of contamination.
Officials stated that further action will be taken based on the test results. The investigation aims to identify whether the contamination occurred due to improper food handling, storage, or hygiene issues.
Rising Concerns Over Food Safety
This Bengaluru food poisoning case highlights the importance of maintaining strict hygiene and quality standards in workplace canteens. With a large number of employees depending on in-house food services, any lapse can lead to serious health consequences.
