In a significant development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been granted Raghav Chadha Z security by the Centre following a fresh threat assessment. The decision comes shortly after the Punjab government withdrew his earlier Z+ category security cover.
Sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that the move was based on an existing threat perception evaluated by the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Raghav Chadha Z Security Cover: What the Centre Decided
Under the new arrangement, Raghav Chadha Z security will be provided in both Delhi and Punjab. Central paramilitary forces are expected to be deployed for his protection.
Until the central security setup is fully implemented, Delhi Police has been directed to provide immediate protection. Officials indicated that the transition to central forces will be completed soon.
Security Change After Punjab Withdraws Z+ Cover
The Centre’s decision comes days after the Punjab government, led by AAP, withdrew Chadha’s Z+ security cover, which was earlier provided by the state police.
This sudden change in security arrangements has drawn attention, especially given the political context. Chadha had been enjoying one of the highest levels of protection under the state government before it was withdrawn last week.

In one post, he wrote that he would “let his work do the talking.” In another instance, he reacted with “interesting thought” to a video suggesting he could form his own political party, sparking speculation about his future.
He also shared a post referencing the phrase “Never Outshine the Master,” which many interpreted as an indirect message aimed at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
