New Delhi and Washington have signed a ₹7,995-crore agreement to provide long-term sustainment support for the Indian Navy’s MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. The deal strengthens operational readiness, improves logistics, and deepens defence cooperation as India expands its blue-water capabilities.
Strategic maintenance pact strengthens fleet
The newly signed sustainment contract covers comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support for the Navy’s multi-role MH-60R helicopters. It includes spare parts, technical assistance, crew training, and the creation of in-country support facilities. Officials noted that the agreement will significantly enhance fleet availability and reduce dependency on foreign repair cycles, aligning with India’s push for defence self-reliance.
