How to Reach Chandratal Lake
By Road
From Manali: The journey from Manali to Chandratal Lake covers about 125 km. Travelers can hire a jeep or use local taxis to reach the lake, passing through the Rohtang Pass and Batal. The last 14 km from Batal to the lake is a rough, unpaved road, and the lake is a 15–20 minute walk from the parking area.
From Kaza: Chandratal is approximately 80 km from Kaza. The route involves traversing Kunzum Pass, a high-altitude mountain pass that connects the Spiti Valley to the Lahaul Valley. The road conditions can be challenging, so it’s advisable to travel with experienced drivers.
Chandratal By Air
The nearest airport to Chandratal Lake is Bhuntar Airport (also known as Kullu-Manali Airport), located about 190 km away. From there, one can hire a taxi or jeep to reach the lake. Please note that flights to Bhuntar are subject to weather conditions and may be delayed or canceled.
