The wait is over for lakhs of students. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. If you are appearing in the 2027 boards, this is the schedule that will shape your next three months. Here is everything you need to know.
CBSE Board Exam 2027: Key Dates at a Glance
According to reports, the CBSE 10th and 12th exams 2027 will begin on 16 February 2027. The Class 10 main exam is scheduled to end on 9 March, while the Class 12 exams will continue until 9 April.
| Particulars | Details |
|---|---|
| Exam start date (Class 10 and 12) | 16 February 2027 |
| Class 10 main exam ends | 9 March 2027 |
| Class 12 exam ends | 9 April 2027 |
| Practical / internal assessment | January 2027 |
| Class 10 Phase 2 exam | May 2027 |
| Class 12 supplementary exam | July 2027 (tentative) |
For comparison, last year’s Class 10 exams ran from 17 February to 11 March 2026, and Class 12 exams ran from 17 February to 10 April 2026. The 2027 schedule is similar, with the Class 10 window slightly shorter.
What Is New: The Two-Board Exam System for Class 10
The biggest change students should note is the two-exam system for Class 10. The first phase takes place in February–March 2027, and the second phase is scheduled for May 2027. Students should check the official circulars for eligibility, subject rules and registration details for the second attempt. A second chance can reduce pressure, but it does not mean the first exam can be taken lightly.
What Does the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 Contain?
The official timetable PDF generally lists:
- Exam date and day
- Subject name and subject code
- Exam timing
- Exam day guidelines and instructions
Always match your subject codes with your registered subjects, since a mix-up can lead to confusion on exam day.

Practical Exams Come First
Before the theory papers, CBSE will conduct practical exams and internal assessments, mainly in January 2027. Winter-bound schools follow a separate, earlier window. Practical marks count towards your final result, so give these as much attention as your theory papers. Your school will confirm your exact dates.
Passing Marks and Marking Basics
To pass, students must secure at least a D grade (33% overall) in each subject, as per CBSE norms. Check the latest marks distribution of theory and internal assessment for your subjects, and keep the sample papers and marking schemes handy.
Smart Preparation Tips After the Date Sheet Release
A released date sheet gives you something powerful: a countdown. Use it well.
1. Build a backward plan. Mark every exam date on a calendar. Count the days left for each subject and divide the pending chapters accordingly.
2. Prioritise by gap and weightage. Give more time to subjects where you feel less confident, but keep a daily slot for revision of your strong ones.
3. Practise with sample papers. Solve the latest CBSE sample question papers and previous year papers in timed conditions. This improves speed, accuracy and confidence.
4. Use the gaps between papers. Check the gap between consecutive exams. A long gap is ideal for deep revision, while back-to-back papers need quick, formula-and-diagram-focused notes.
5. Do not ignore health. Sleep seven to eight hours, eat well, take short breaks and avoid last-minute cramming. A calm mind scores better than a tired one.
6. Stay updated through official channels. Circulars, admit card details and any revisions will be posted on the CBSE website, so check it regularly.

Tips for Parents and Teachers
Parents can help by keeping a quiet, positive study environment and avoiding comparison with other students. Teachers can use the date sheet to plan revision classes, mock tests and doubt-clearing sessions in the weeks before the exams.
Final Word
The CBSE Date Sheet 2027 is out, and the clock has started. Download the official PDF, plan your revision around the dates, and focus on steady, consistent preparation. With about three months to go before the first paper, a disciplined plan will matter far more than last-minute stress. All the best to every student appearing in the CBSE board exams 2027.
