The incident took place in Nanded district, Maharashtra. CCTV footage from the Dnyaneshwar Nagar area shows the confrontation and alleged abduction outside Patil’s vehicle before he was forced into another car.

How it happened

According to police and CCTV visuals, Patil was driving his Toyota Innova when a Mahindra Scorpio blocked his path. Three men reportedly rushed him, forced him into the Scorpio and left the scene.

 Patil later told police he was taken to an undisclosed place, beaten and threatened before being left near a village.

Assault and allegations

Patil, who was the former Leader of Opposition in the Nanded Municipal Corporation, later filed a police complaint naming MLA Prataprao Chikhalikar and another former legislator as behind the attack. 

He alleged threats linked to his political activities and a financial dispute worth around ₹2 crore, though the specific motive is still being probed. Both accused denied involvement, calling the claims a political conspiracy.

Police action and aftermath

Police registered a case and arrested seven people in connection with the kidnapping and assault. Some of the accused have prior records, officials said. Patil sustained serious head injuries and is receiving medical treatment. 

His supporters have announced a bandh (strike) in Nanded, raising political tensions locally. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and witness statements as the investigation continues.
